Bonete Beach

Blog Post

Bonete beach is the widest beach at the south of Ilhabela, with a strong sea perfect for surfing. The area is a flashback to the past, with no cars or mobile phones, and only two public phones and a community generator to pull the area into the 21st century. This creates the perfect community to escape busy life of Sao Paulo for a few days. At the end of the stretch of white sand flows the river Nema, which had a hand in the beach being elected one of the ten most beautiful in Brazil by The Guardian.

The beach can be accessed either via a beautiful 3-4 hour trek past waterfalls and exotic wildlife, or via helicopter or boat. This picture-perfect location was ideal to be the namesake for our elegant Bonete watch.

Brazil’s Caraiva beach on a remote stretch of the Bahia coast is the perfect inspiration.

Blog Post

This beautiful beach is nestled in the remote village of Caraiva, on the Bahia coast of Brazil. The small village is barely within the 21st century, only having had electricity since 2007, and with roads and cars practically non-existent. It is for this reason that the idyllic village attracts holiday goers looking for complete peace and serenity on their getaway.

The beach which accompanies the small village is beautiful, with caramel sand and blue sea and still quiet enough to be relaxing and enjoyable to simply lounge around.

The free-spirited and colourful lifestyle of the beach was perfect to embody everything Amazuna represents, and therefore become the inspiration for our Caraiva watches.

Our Caraiva watches represent the vivid colours of the Brazilian flag, all of which can be found within the luscious nature of the beach. All of our Amazuna watches are named after some of Brazil’s best beaches, and so it was important to name our most colourful watches after the beauty of the Caraiva beach.

Rio de Janeiro looks beautiful as the location of Michael Kors’ Jet Set 6.

Blog Post

Michael Kors’ Jet Set 6 collection features 6 pairs of shoes put together to be the most appropriate for a trip to Rio. The campaign features beautiful photos of Lily Aldridge in various locations around Rio, and also included a two minute promotional video which has various shots of the Brazilian city.

Though the campaign was released over a month ago, the summer is getting closer and closer, and the stunning shots of Rio’s beaches and samba sessions seem more relevant than ever. Rio de Janeiro has since become the feature of a whole series of pieces on the Michael Kors website, including travel postcards with an interview with Lily Aldridge about the exotic location, and a guide on what to pack for a trip to Rio.

This feature on Rio is an amazing representation of how beautiful the Brazilian city is, and gives people who might not know much about the location a glimpse into the sun, sand and surf lifestyle this beautiful place allows for. This series definitely make us want to pack our bags and head to Rio asap!

Filipe Toledo takes the win as the Brazilian Storm rules Oi Rio Pro

Blog Post

Yesterday saw the men’s semi-finals and the final of the Oi Rio Pro at Barra da Tijuca, where Ubatuba native Filipe Toledo stormed to victory with a near perfect final score of 19.87 out of a possible score of 20. The support for 20-year-old Toledo came not only from the ear splitting noise of the 40,000 strong crowd of Brazilians on the beach, but also his entire extended family and friends who he brought with him to the event in his former home country.

This year and last have been dominated by what many have dubbed the “Brazilian Storm”, with last year’s champion Gabriel Medina being the first Brazilian champion of the CT tour. This second win of the season for Toledo leaves him only 550 points behind rankings leader Adriano de Souza, yet another Brazilian surfer, and so next month’s competitions in Fiji will be imperative to Toledo securing his place in the title race.

The win was clearly an emotional one for Filipe, almost immediately after his win whilst still in the water he expressed “I don’t know what to say. The first thing I did was cry because look at the crowd, I’ve never seen anything like that before. It’s been such a blessed week and I have such amazing friends and family. I need to be grateful for everything I have and everything God has done in my life.”

We can’t wait to see what else Toledo has in store for the rest of the season, and wish him and all the other brilliant Brazilian surfers on the tour the best of luck.

São Paulo Fashion Week draws to a close with final stunning collections.

Blog Post

São Paulo Fashion Week drew to a close last Friday, with the final few shows of the 5th largest fashion week being just as exceptional as the first half of the week. We saw brands such as GIG Couture, Samuel Cirnansck, Adriana Degreas and Wagner Kallieno present their collections in the final few days.

GIG Couture

GIG Couture showed a collection full of beautiful summer pastels ranging from blues and greens to yellows and pinks. Gina Guerra created a striking balance of sharp tailored designs and gentle knit patterns throughout the collection, offset by the chunky jewellery and large cat eye glasses seen paired with several of the outfits.

Samuel Cirnansck

Samuel Cirnansck‘s collection saw the runway donned with gold chandeliers and features, a recreation of the hotel ballroom from the 1980 film The Shining, a scene in which we see a 1920s ball, notably the main time period of inspiration for Cirnansck’s collection. The women of the runway donned cocktail dresses in sharp clean cuts, and floor length flowing gowns with lace and ruffles. Although appearing to be contrasts, all of these styles come together to create a beautiful collection which represents a woman who would glide into a high profile event in any one of these outfits.

Adriana Degreas

The Brazilian swimwear brand‘s collection was shown on a dark runway with spotlights to highlight the black and white collection. The compilation was made up of many satin materials, with a central theme of simplicity, the highlighting features being the cut and fit of the clothes, rather than focusing on colour or pattern. The eye catching makeup matches the bold designs seen throughout, creating an unusual but striking image.

Wagner Kallieno

Kallieno‘s collection was inspired by the colour palette of Spanish surrealist Joan Miró’s paintings, with asymmetrical pieces in oranges, pinks and turquoises. The collection had a 70s feel to it, with many denim pieces and fringe embellishments, and the summer vibe which was seen throughout 70s fashion a staple theme of the show. São Paulo Fashion Week overall was a huge success, with the collections at the highest standard yet, full of beautiful clothes that we wish we could see at the European fashion weeks too!
